Saturday morning started with leadership workshops where the Kujenga VII participants discussed what it takes to be a leader, what leadership skills they have, and how they will go forth in their communities, family, church, and demonstrate leadership.

Our Cultural celebration was a beautiful time with 'Happy Hands.' They shared their gifts of poetry and drums with the Kujenga VIII participants. As you can see some youth joined in with Happy Hands! Its all about being involved and being leaders here at Kujenga!

Young adults share their youth testimony on how the FIRE is in them!

The youth are put in Kujenga Families. We pick Swahili names in honor and reflection of our African heritage. The participants are then asked to share their Swahili names in artistic expression. All participants are encouraged to participate in creation of their family poster. Here you will see Kujenga families presenting their posters.

Jane Wexler Brown, Executive Director of the Lwanga Center, welcomes this years participants and expresses her excitement to see all the familiar and new faces at Kujenga VIII. She expresses her gratitude for the planning committee and all those who make Kujenga possible.

The youth and young adults from our family leaders and planning committee led us in scripture during opening ceremonies.

Our opening ceremonies included the placing of stoles on the young adult leaders and elders. We call upon these leaders to guide and support the participants throughout the weekend.

After registration the participants participated in group mixers and personality quizzes. The results from these quizzes will be referenced throughout the weekend to show how the young adults that not matter what type of person you are you can still be a leader!!
